Gaia (Not for Sale)
To celebrate Heartwood Art carvings being featured in Woodcarving Illustrated and Scroll Saw magazines, this Gaia carving was created at the request of my dear friend who kindly took the pictures that will appear in the magazines.
She stands over a foot tall and has a hand-rubbed oil finish that offers a soft sheen to the wood. The base is made from the same stock as the body and includes a special oil-based pigment to give it a deep contrasting color to the figure.
You can watch this carving as it was being made in the step-by-step Follow My Carving series.
Gnarly Tree (Sold)
This wonderful gnarly tree is carved from birch and features engraved leaves around the border. The custom frame sets off the warm honey-toned wood of the carving.
At 12 inches square, it is suitable for wall hanging and will cast light shadows behind the tree.
Frame provided by S & S Framing Wood hand selected by Del’s Woodcraft, Inc.
You can watch this carving as it was being made in the step-by-step Follow My Carving series.
Heartwood Art was featured in the 2008/2009 winter edition of Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts magazine and will be featured in the summer 2009 edition of Woodcarving Illustrated.
